I love to work and study in Davao which is located southern part of the Philippines, but still I believe that "There's always no place like home." I was born and grew up in Candaba, Pampanga. I have beautiful good memories here with friends and relatives in the mother side. My mother is a pure Pampangeña and my father is a mix of Dabaweño-Pampangeño. Whatever my blood is-I knew from myself that Candaba is always in my heart and blood wherever I will be carried away in my own fate.
Here are some of general information like festivities, foods, tourist spots and experiences that I can share to you about our place:
Candaba was formerly known as Candawe. It is one of the oldest settlements during the pre-Hispanic time, long before the encomenderos took hold of the town in 1593. One of the oldest settlements during pre-Hispanic time, long before the "Encomenderos" took hold of the town in 1593, is what is known as Candaba.
Candaba represents the lowest point in Central Luzon. Candaba is noted for its wide and scenic swamps, the habitat of mudfish and catfish. The popular "burong isda", a distinct Kapampangan fermented delicacy, is made from catfish or mudfish produced in Candaba.
In the 24-hour census conducted by Candaba, nearly 17,000 birds were sighted and a record not only for the pride of Candaba but to the whole Philppines as well. The elusive Eurasian Spoonbill (Platalea Leucorodia) was seen for the first time in Candaba Swamp. The 32 hectares of Candaba Swamp has been a refuge for more than 80 species of migratory birds.
This is the reason why Candaba is known for HOME OF MIGRATORY BIRDS.
I revisited Candaba twice this year of 2010- last summer and the wedding of my eldest brother last December of 2010.It is always good to be back home to see my brothers, friends and relatives. It seems that even I am away in my hometown, if I see birds flying over the sky in Davao I feel that I am at home.
Candaba, a place to be and a home.
